Today I want to remind you to use all your super reading powers while reading.
Ask students to practice ‘reading on’ in the poem with a partner. Or ask students to bring a book from their bag and practice reading, paying close attention to punctuation.

Tell students they are going to learn about blends. When you blend the sounds together you can still hear each sound.

The teacher will pass out picture cards to students and as a group sort them on a pocket chart. The teacher will discuss where the pictures are and fix any errors.

Make a circle map to discuss everything children know about Los Posadas.



Read the book from cover to cover.  Stop somewhere in the middle to have students stop and talk about what they think will happen next. Make sure to integrate “meaning” work throughout the reading.
