Lesson/Activity:

Tuesday - Oct. 11

Standard(s): 3.MD.1 Tell and write time to the nearest minute and measure time intervals in minutes. Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of time intervals in minutes, e.g., by representing the problem on a number line diagram.

LT: We are learning  to measure time and solve problems involving time.

SC: I am successful when I can show my understanding of how to measure and solve problems involving time.

Lesson/Activity: Module 2 Mid-Module Review on Time.  Using clocks, review elapsed time, along with adding and subtracting of time intervals in minutes on a number line if needed.

Standard(s):S3E2a & b S3E2.

LT:I am learning how fossils are evidence of past organisms and their environments.

SC:❑ I can observe fossils to gather evidence of past organisms. ❑ I can make predictions of an organisms environment based on other fossils present. ❑ I can describe past environments by observing fossils from that time and place.

Lesson/Activity:Pass out fossils of a trilobite.  Let students discuss and ask questions.  Then show the video

Standard(s): S3E2a & b

LT:I am learning how fossils are evidence of past organisms and their environments.

SC:  ❑ I can observe fossils to gather evidence of past organisms. ❑ I can make predictions of an organisms environment based on other fossils present. ❑ I can describe past environments by observing fossils from that time and place.

Lesson/Activity:  Read Fossil and drawing activity

Wednesday - Oct. 12

Standard(s):  3.MD.1 3.NBT.2 3.MD.2

LT: I can show my understanding of how to measure and solve problems involving time and measurement of weight and liquid volume in metric units.

SC: I am successful when I can show my understanding of how to measure and solve problems involving time and measurement of weight and liquid volume in metric units.

Lesson/Activity: Mid-Module Assessment Review

LT: I am learning to use place value to round whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100.

SC: ❑ I can identify the closest tens that a two-digit number falls between.

❑ I can plot the number on a number line between the tens.

❑ I can determine which ten the number is closer to and explain my thinking.
