Week of: Oct. 24 - Oct. 28 MATH SCIENCE Science and Social Studies instruction alternates between weeks SOCIAL STUDIES Science and Social Studies instruction alternates between weeks Monday - Oct. 17 Standard(s):MGSE3.NBT.1 Use place value understanding to round whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100. MGSE3.NBT.2 Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction. LT:I am learning to use different strategies to fluently add and subtract within 1000. I am learning to use place value to round whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100. SC: ❑I can use different models, examples and strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems. ❑I can explain my strategy to determine if my answers make sense. ❑ I can identify the closest tens that a two-digit number falls between. ❑ I can plot the number on a number line between the tens. ❑ I can determine which ten the number is closer to and explain my thinking. ❑I can identify the closest hundreds that a three-digit number falls between. ❑I can identify the closest hundreds and plot the number on a number line. ❑I can determine which hundred the number is closer to and explain my thinking. Lesson/Activity: Module 2 Lesson 21 Estimate sums and differences of measurements by rounding, and then solve mixed word problems. Standard(s): S3E2a & b LT: I am learning how fossils are evidence of past organisms and their environments. SC: ❑ I can observe fossils to gather evidence of past organisms. ❑ I can make predictions of an organisms environment based on other fossils present. ❑ I can describe past environments by observing fossils from that time and place. Lesson/Activity: Mystery Science: https://mysteryscience.com/ecosystems/mystery-6/food-webs-flow-of-energy/212#slide-id-0 Put students in groups or 4-5. Standard(s): LT: SC: Lesson/Activity: Tuesday - Oct. 18 Standard(s): 3.NBT.2, #.MD.1, 3NBT.2, 3.MD.2 LT: I am learning to show my understanding of measurement of weight and liquid volume in metric units, add & subtract within 1000, round to the nearest 10 and 100, and when I can read a clock and measure elapsed time. SC: I am successful when I can show my understanding of measurement of weight and liquid volume in metric units, add & subtract within 1000, round to the nearest 10 and 100, and when I can read a clock and measure elapsed time. Lesson/Activity: Module 2 Review Standard(s): S3E2a & b LT: I am learning how fossils are evidence of past organisms and their environments.
