Monday - Oct. 3

Standard(s):3.NBT.2 Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction. 3.MD.2 Measure and estimate liquid volumes and masses of objects using standard units of grams (g), kilograms (kg), and liters (l). Add, subtract, multiply, or divide to solve one-step word problems involving masses or volumes that are given in the same units, e.g., by using drawings (such as a beaker with a measurement scale) to represent the problem.

LT:  We are learning to measure weight and liquid volume in metric units.

SC: I am successful when I can estimate and solve one-step work problems involving metric weight.

Lesson/Activity: Module 8 Solve one-step word problems involving metric weights within 100 and estimate to reason about solutions.

LT:I am learning about the regions where the Native Americans lived.

SC: I can compare actions of today with actions of the Native Americans. I can compare the food we eat, the clothes we wear, and the houses we have.

Lesson/Activity: Activity – Students work in collaborative groups using only the photo on the outside of the envelope to determine what they would do for food, clothing, and shelter, filling in the chart as they make decisions. Once they have filled this out thoroughly, they will ask the teacher if they can proceed. If so, they will open their envelope and take turns reading or jigsaw reading about what the American Indians of the region did for those 3 things and fill in the chart as they go with the information they find.

SC: I am successful when I can decompose to reason about the size of 1 liter, 100 milliliter, 10 milliliters, and 1 milliliter.

Lesson/Activity: Module 9 Decompose a liter to reason about the size of 1 liter, 100 milliliters, 10 milliliters, and 1 milliliter
