Week of: Oct. 31 - Nov. 4th MATH SCIENCE Science and Social Studies instruction alternates between weeks SOCIAL STUDIES Science and Social Studies instruction alternates between weeks Monday - Oct. 31 Standard(s):MGSE. 3.OA.4, MGSE3.OA.5, MGSE3.OA.7, MGSE3.OA.9 LT: I am learning to use different properties of operations as strategies to multiply and divide. SC: ❑I can draw and use objects to model multiplication situations in more than one way ❑I can compare pictures and models to explain differences and similarities in the size, number of groups, and total.. ❑I can show that the order of the factors does not change the product by using the commutative property. ❑I can change the order or grouping of three or more factors to make the problem easier to solve. ❑I can decompose one factor into two parts to help find the product. ❑I can solve multiplication and division equations determining if they are true or false. Lesson/Activity: Module 3 Lesson 1 Study commutativity to find known facts of 6, 7, 8, 9 Standard(s): LT: SC: Lesson/Activity: Standard(s): SS3H2a-c; SS3Gb LT:We are learning about early European exploration of North America. SC: I can brainstorm about exploration. Lesson/Activity: Follow the directions on page 6 about “Brainstorming About Exploration” You will need page 6. Students will need pages 22-25. Tuesday - Nov. 1 Standard(s): MGSE. ❑I can write multiplication or division equations to describe picture models. ❑I can use various strategies and patterns to assist with multiplication facts. Lesson/Activity: Module 3 Lesson 2 Apply the distributive and commutative properties to relate multiplication facts 5 x n + n to 6 x n and n x 6 where n is the size of the unit. Standard(s): LT: SC: Lesson/Activity: Standard(s): SS3H2a-c; SS3Gb LT:We are learning about early European exploration of North America. SC: I can make an early compass just like the early explorers use to. Lesson/Activity: How did they navigate the ocean See page 12 for the compass experiment. Students will need page 31. Wednesday - Nov. 2 Standard(s): MGSE. 3.OA.4, MGSE3.OA.5, MGSE3.OA.7, MGSE3.OA.9 LT: I am learning to determine the unknown whole number in a multiplication or division equation using the inverse relationship of multiplication and division. SC: ❑I can read and write related division equations from multiplication equations. ❑I can identify the unknown product, the groups, size unknown, or the number of groups unknown. ❑I can read and write equations with missing factors. ❑I can relate missing factor multiplication equations to division equations. ❑ I can write equations using the appropriate symbol for multiplication and division. Lesson/Activity: Module 3 Lesson 3 Multiply and divide with familiar facts using a letter to represent the unknown. Standard(s): LT: SC: Lesson/Activity: Standard(s):SS3H2a-c; SS3Gb LT:We are learning about early European exploration of North America. SC: I can create a timeline of early European exploration. Lesson/Activity: All the explorers intro You will need page 9 (for you) and page 28 (for students). Simultaneously create the European Explorer Timeline for your classroom. Thursday - Nov. 3 Standard(s): MGSE3.OA.3 MGSE. 3.OA.4, MGSE3.OA.5, MGSE3.OA.7 LT: I am learning to use strategies to fluently multiply and divide within 100. SC: ❑I can write multiplication or division equations to describe picture models. ❑I can use various strategies and patterns to assist with multiplication facts. ❑I can use missing factor multiplication problems to learn division facts. Lesson/Activity: Module 3 Lesson 4 Count by units of 6 to multiply and divide using number bonds to decompose. Standard(s): LT: SC: Lesson/Activity: Standard(s): SS3H2a-c; SS3Gb LT:We are learning about early European exploration of North America. SC: I can name seven reasons for the European exploration of North America. Lesson/Activity: Age of Discovery video Teacher will need pages 8-9. Students will need either to make a mini-book or the teacher will create for them. The mini-book will give the 7 reasons for exploration. Friday- Nov. 4 Standard(s): MGSE3.OA.3 MGSE. 3.OA.4, MGSE3.OA.5, MGSE3.OA.7 LT: I am learning to use strategies to fluently multiply and divide within 100.
