Week of: November 27-December 1, 2023 MATH SCIENCE Science and Social Studies instruction alternates between weeks SOCIAL STUDIES Science and Social Studies instruction alternates between weeks Monday Module 3 Lesson 8 Standard(s): 3.PAR.3.2 Represent single digit multiplication and division facts using a variety of strategies. Explain the relationship between multiplication and division. 3.PAR.3.3 Apply properties of operations (i.e., commutative property, associative property, distributive property) to multiply and divide within 100. LT: We are learning to apply properties of operations to multiply within 100. SC: I can apply the distributive property. Lesson/Activity: Module 3 Lesson 8 Students demonstrate the break apart and distribute strategy by breaking apart either factor of an expression, as represented by the rows or columns in an array. Expressions in the form of _____ x (____ x ____) are introduced and used to represent the strategy when the second factor is broken apart. S3L1. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information about the similarities and differences between plants, animals, and habitats found within geographic regions (Blue Ridge Mountains, Piedmont, Coastal Plains, Valley and Ridge, and Appalachian Plateau) of Georgia Other standards ELAGSE3RI1; ELAGSE3RI7 LT: We are learning to compare plants, animals, and habitats in Georgia’s Geographic regions. SC: I will know I’m successful when I can… ❑ I can explore and identify Georgia’s geographic regions. ❑ I can describe the plants, animals, and habitats of: Blue Ridge Mountains, Piedmont, Coastal Plains, Valley and Ridge, & Appalachian Plateau. ❑I can compare and contrast the plants, animals, and habitats found in Georgia’s geographic regions. 3rd Grade Teacher Notes (pg 16-18) GaDOE Phenomena Tasks: Habitats of Georgia GaDOE Multimodality Tasks: Plants and Animals of Georgia’s Regions Mystery Science: How many different kinds of animals are there? GaDOE Learning Plan: Plants and Animals of Georgia's Geographic Regions Tuesday Module 3 Lesson 9 Standard(s): 3.PAR.3.2 Represent single digit multiplication and division facts using a variety of strategies. Explain the relationship between multiplication and division. 3.PAR.3.3 Apply properties of operations (i.e., commutative property, associative property, distributive property) to multiply and divide within 100. LT: I am learning how to apply properties of operations to multiply within 100. SC: I can apply the associative property of multiplication. Lesson/Activity: Module 3 Lesson 9 Students S3L1. GaDOE Learning Plan: Plants and Animals of Georgia's Geographic Regions Lesson: Students will investigate why the gopher tortoise only lives in the southern half of the state of Georgia. Wednesday Module 3 Lesson 10 Standard(s): 3.PAR.3.2 Represent single digit multiplication and division facts using a variety of strategies. Lesson/Activity: Module 3 Lesson 10 Students see that they can multiply the three factors in an expression in any order and get the same answer. They determine whether the same is true for expressions that include other operations. Students conclude that the order in which operations are performed matters and that the placement of the parentheses determines the result. Thursday Module 3 Lesson 11 Standard(s): 3.PAR.3.2 Represent single digit multiplication and division facts using a variety of strategies. Explain the relationship between multiplication and division. 3.PAR.3.3 Apply properties of operations (i.e., commutative property, associative property, distributive property) to multiply and divide within 100. LT: We are developing our understanding of multiplication and division. SC: I can apply the distributive property. Lesson/Activity: Module 3 Lesson 11 Students use the break apart and distribute strategy to divide. They decide which fact combination to break the fact into, with an emphasis on five facts. Students explore the efficiency of using tens facts to break apart larger totals. GaDOE Learning Plan: Plants and Animals of Georgia's Geographic Regions Lesson: Students will investigate the terrain of the Georgia Regions. Friday Module 3 Lesson 12 Standard(s): 3.PAR.3.2 Represent single digit multiplication and division facts using a variety of strategies. Explain the relationship between multiplication and division. LT: We are learning to solve multiplication or division problems within 100. SC: I can write a multiplication or division equation. I can represent the unknown with a letter. I can solve a multiplication or division problem. Lesson/Activity: Module 3 Lesson 12 Students write equations to represent word problems by using a letter to represent the unknown. They select their own solution strategies. After working independently to solve problems, students share their work to compare and connect the strategies. AFTER LESSON IF TIME: TOPIC B QUIZ S3L1.
