Week of: December 4-8, 2023 Georgia Standards of Excellence MAP TESTING MATH SCIENCE Science and Social Studies instruction alternates between weeks SOCIAL STUDIES Science and Social Studies instruction alternates between weeks Module 3 Lesson 13 Standard(s): 3.PAR.3.2 Represent single digit multiplication and division facts using a variety of strategies. Explain the relationship between multiplication and division. 3.PAR.3.6 Solve practical, relevant problems involving multiplication and division within 100 using part-whole strategies, visual representations, and/or concrete models. LT: We are learning to use a variety of strategies to represent single digit multiplication. SC: I can use one strategy to solve a multiplication problem. I can use more than one strategy to solve a multiplication problem. Lesson/Activity: Module 3 Lesson 13 Students use the relationship between 9 and 10 as the basis for strategies to multiply units of 9. To skip-count by nines, they add 10 and subtract 1, and patterns are identified in the multiples of 9. Students apply the commutative property to support multiplying by 9. (This lesson formalizes the term multiples.) S3L1. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information about the similarities and differences between plants, animals, and habitats found within geographic regions (Blue Ridge Mountains, Piedmont, Coastal Plains, Valley and Ridge, and Appalachian Plateau) of Georgia Other standards ELAGSE3RI1; ELAGSE3RI7 LT: We are learning to compare plants, animals, and habitats in Georgia’s Geographic regions. Explain the relationship between multiplication and division. 3.PAR.3.3 Apply properties of operations (i.e., commutative property, associative property, distributive property) to multiply and divide within 100. LT: We are learning to apply properties of operations to multiply within 100. SC: I can apply the distributive property. Lesson/Activity: Module 3 Lesson 14 Students apply the break apart and distribute strategy to multiply by 9 by finding 10 units and subtracting 1 unit. As a class, they analyze multiplication and division equations and generalize patterns for multiplying and dividing with 1 and 0. S3L1.
