Week of: February 12-15, 2024 MATH SCIENCE Science and Social Studies instruction alternates between weeks Module 4 Lesson 16 Standard(s): 3.GSR.7.1 Investigate area by covering the space of rectangles presented in realistic situations using multiple copies of the same unit, with no gaps or overlaps, and determine the total area (total number of units that covered the space). 3.GSR.7.3 Discover and explain how area can be found by multiplying the dimensions of a rectangle. LT: We are learning to find area with multiplication using composite shapes. SC: I can use the correct units for area. I can use multiplication to find the area of a composite shape. Lesson/Activity: Module 4 Lesson 16 Students apply their understanding of area to solve ancient Babylonian math problems involving shapes inside a larger shape. Students find the area of these shapes by using relationships between parts of the figures they observe.. Standard(s): S3P1. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information about the ways heat energy is transferred and measured. a. Ask questions to identify sources of heat energy. (Clarification statement: Examples could include sunlight, friction, and burning.) LT: We are learning to identify sources of heat energy. SC: I can observe and ask questions about different sources of heat. Lesson/Activity: Introduce heat with the PPT. Module 4 Lesson 17 Standard(s): 3.GSR.7.1 Investigate area by covering the space of rectangles presented in realistic situations using multiple copies of the same unit, with no gaps or overlaps, and determine the total area (total number of units that covered the space). 3.GSR.7.3 Discover and explain how area can be found by multiplying the dimensions of a rectangle. LT: We are learning to find area with multiplication using composite shapes. SC: I can use the correct units for area. I can use multiplication to find the area of a composite shape. Lesson/Activity: Module 4 Lesson 17 Students identify the features of a floor plan. They create floor plans to design their own dream homes and observe how other students use area in floor plan designs. Lesson/Activity: Mystery Science - Why does it get cold in winter? Module 4 Lesson 18 Standard(s): 3.GSR.7.1 Investigate area by covering the space of rectangles presented in realistic situations using multiple copies of the same unit, with no gaps or overlaps, and determine the total area (total number of units that covered the space). 3.GSR.7.3 Discover and explain how area can be found by multiplying the dimensions of a rectangle. LT: We are learning to find area with multiplication using composite shapes. SC: I can use the correct units for area. I can use multiplication to find the area of a composite shape. Lesson/Activity: Module 4 Lesson 18 Students find the areas of rectangles and other shapes, organize the data in a table, and plot the data on a line plot. Steins reason and answer questions about the data.. Lesson/Activity: Module 4 Lesson 19 Standard(s): 3.GSR.7.1 Investigate area by covering the space of rectangles presented in realistic situations using multiple copies of the same unit, with no gaps or overlaps, and determine the total area (total number of units that covered the space). 3.GSR.7.3 Discover and explain how area can be found by multiplying the dimensions of a rectangle. LT: We are learning to find area with multiplication using composite shapes. SC: I can use the correct units for area. I can use multiplication to find the area of a composite shape. Lesson/Activity: Module 4 Lesson 19 Students solve real-word problems involving length, width, and area of rectangles. They determine what information is relevant to the problem, including when to find the area and when to use the side lengths. Lesson/Activity: Students will create Heat Production flip book Friday NO STUDENTS Parent Conferences
