Week of: September 23-27, 2024 MATH SOCIAL STUDIES Science and Social Studies instruction alternates between weeks Monday Lesson Sterling 7: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1JVLJVykA1L4_AFYPrqz0nC24B_skSc0OEbsDQvKajP8/edit Standard(s): 3.MDR.5.5 Estimate and measure liquid volumes, lengths and masses of objects using customary units. Solve problems involving mass, length, and volume given in the same unit, and reason about the relative sizes of measurement units within the customary system. LT: We are learning to estimate and measure using customary units. SC: I can measure liquid volume. I can compare liquid volume by using different capacity containers. Lesson/Activity: Module 2 Lesson 4 Students compare the capacities of various containers. They decompose 1 liter into 10 equal parts until they see 1 millimeter and then recompose to make 1 liter.. Standard: SS3H1. Describe early American Indian cultures and their development in North America. a. Locate the regions where American Indians settled in North America: Arctic, Northwest Southwest, Plains, Northeast, and Southeast. b. Compare and contrast how American Indians in each region used their environment to obtain food, clothing, and shelter. c. Discuss how American Indians continue to contribute to American life. LT: I am learning to describe how the food, clothing, and shelter differed for the American Indians living in different regions of North America. Lesson/Activity: Module 2 Lesson 5 Students create a beaker for measuring liquid volume by repeatedly adding 100 mL of water to a container. They use their beaker to measure and estimate liquid volume. Then, students draw a vertical number line as a model to solve real-world problems and support understanding. Standard: SS3H1. Lesson/Activity: Module 2 Lesson 6 Students use the RDW process to make sense of and find a solution path for word problems involving liquid volume. LT: We are learning to fluently add and subtract within 1,000. We are learning to estimate and measure using customary units SC: I can solve problems involving weight. Lesson/Activity: Module 2 Lesson 7 Students are guided through using a tape diagram to see a solution path for one-step comparison word problems involving addition and subtraction. Students work in groups to solve and share strategies for solving one-step problems involving multiplication and division. TOPIC A QUIZ Standard: SS3H1. Lesson/Activity: Module 2 Lesson 8 Students read thermometers concretely and pictorially to find temperatures and connect reading a thermometer to reading a number line. Students identify the two tens that a temperature is between, whether it is more or less than halfway between them, and which ten it is closer to. Standard: SS3H1.
