Students will engage in interactive think-pair-share review and direct instruction of application of R-controlled syllable rules through use of sorting and error analysis.

Jan 8-10 Reading REview


Lesson/Activity:  Read Aloud- Teacher Choice


Students will listen to a story and write down any words that they hear that are unfamiliar or a word that could be a multi-meaning word.

Students will

  • Close read a familiar story with incorrectly spelled words with the more tricky R controlled syllables.  

  • Teacher will close read and model correction of 2-3 errors. 

  •  Then students will reread with a partner and pairs will correct remainder of errors for incorrectly spelled R-controlled syllable patterns within words.
