Achieve Article: What a Zoo! GRAMMAR WRITING Mon. Standard(s): ELAGSE4RF3a: LT:I am learning to read unfamiliar words in context and out of context using phonics and decoding skills. SC:❑ I can read words with multiple syllables. ❑ I can recognize roots and affixes. ❑ I can read all letter sound combinations correctly. ❑ I can use cueing systems (e.g., phonics and context clues) to determine pronunciation and meaning. Lesson/Activity:U7W2L1 Phonics Students will read and spell words with prefixes trans-, pro-, sub-, super-, inter-. Standard(s): ELAGSE4RL5 LT: I am learning to explain the differences between poems, drama, and prose and the elements of each. SC: ❑ I can determine the way the text is organized (paragraphs, stanzas, acts). ❑ I can explain the structural elements of poems, dramas, and prose (stories). Lesson/Activity: RU7 W2L6 Students will recognize the structure and elements of drama and how they contribute to a story. Standard: ELAGSE4L2 LT: I am learning to use commas and quotation marks in direct speech and quotes from a text when writing. Lesson/Activity: Students will create sentences using a collection of transitional phrases as sentence starters. Then students will use their grammar notebooks to complete 4 sentences with commas for appositives omitted.
