Achieve Article: Cracking the Color Code GRAMMAR WRITING Mon. Standard(s):ELAGSE4RF3 LT: I am learning to read unfamiliar words in context and out of context using phonics and decoding skills. SC: ❑ I can read words with multiple syllables. ❑ I can recognize roots and affixes. ❑ I can read all letter sound combinations correctly. ❑ I can use cueing systems (e.g., phonics and context clues) to determine pronunciation and meaning. Lesson/Activity: Students will reread an interactive text to build fluency and decode by analogy. Standard(s): ELAGSE4RL2 LT:I am learning to identify the theme of a text by thinking about the details in the text. SC: ❑ I can generate questions before reading. Lesson/Activity: Students will determine the theme of a poem. LT: I am learning to use punctuation correctly. SC: ❑ I can examine mentor texts and notice how the author uses punctuation for effect. LT: I am learning to use commas and quotation marks in direct speech and quotes from a text when writing.
